The Cornerstone
We are so good at "picking and choosing”. When something doesn’t fit our mold, meet our expectations, or jive with what we think, we toss it to the side or we ridicule it. Is it fear of the unknown or different that causes us to act this way? Or is it merely our ignorance?
Jesus was different. He didn't fit the mold of the people of the time. He didn't meet the expectations or jive with what so many were thinking. He scared people with his teachings and preachings. He scared people with his healings and miracles. He scared people with his prophecizing of what was to come. He was rejected by so many. His words were denied by the masses.
But God took that precious son that he had sent to earth, and He used him to bring a new understanding of peace among men. He used him to unite tribes of people, and to join together beliefs. Jesus, that rejected man of wisdom, became the Messiah of mankind. He became the Prince of Peace, the Lord of Lords. Jesus became our cornerstone.
Like Jesus, we should never be afraid to be different, if it is because we are following the will of God. We should not fear to be obedient to his word, despite what ridicule might come our way. God will take his bold, fearless, obedient people and use them in ways they could never imagine. And stone by stone, he will build his kingdom.
