Sure in Your Purpose
There is a lot of name calling going on right now. People are taking sides and standing up against each other – neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend, family member against family member.
This sense of chaos and unrest can cause us to feel inadequate. We can look to the left and to the right, and never really find the direction we are supposed to go.
For the unbeliever, this can be confusing and distressing. For the believer it can be the same. The only difference lies in our calling.
As believers, we know that God has put a calling on our lives. We understand there is a purpose for us being here, and that God will use us for His good intent if we allow ourselves to be used.
Always, especially during times of chaos and confusion, we must have courage in our calling. We need to have the strength of Daniel in our hearts to be able to rise above the mess and share the beautiful message of Christ and his love for us.
But how do we do that when the world seems to put us down, make us feel insecure in our beliefs, and come against us?
We can take a great example from the Apostle Paul who spoke with confidence and assuredness of his place in the Kingdom of God.
“Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), and all the brethren who are with me,
To the churches of Galatia:
Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” (Galatians 1:1-5)
Paul is telling the people of Galatia that he is an apostle. He is letting them know that he is not an apostle because THEY have appointed him to be one; he is an apostle because God appointed him. It was his calling.
He is oblivious to what others think about him. His focus is on what God thinks, and what God has prepared him to do.
In verse 5, he also makes sure he doesn’t take credit for any good that he might do. He gives all glory to God the Father, who called him, appointed him, and gave him the ability to accomplish His will.
When we set our sights on our calling from God, when we live in courage and confidence of who we are in Christ, we can take our eyes off of what others think, what others are saying, and we can step out in courage to live the purposed life that God has called us to.
Today more than ever, the world needs to hear the message of hope. We are in that “evil age” that Paul speaks of in verse 5. The time is NOW!
Will you stand bold in your calling and let your voice be heard above the noise? Will you take the time to climb to the mountaintop so that you can be heard in the valley?
Let the peace and confidence of God the Father fill you to overflowing so that you can stand, as Paul did, in complete assuredness of your purpose.
