Overcoming Disappointment

Some days can be tough.  Situations can be difficult.  And on certain days it feels as if you got caught in a rainstorm, and every drop of water is another problem raining down on you.

Where do we go when the world seems heavy?  Which direction do we take when we are caught in a proverbial fork in the road?   What is there to help us pull ourselves out of discouragement and into new hope?

True hope and the ability to rise above our disappointment and discouragement can be found in one place...the abundant, ever true, always right on the mark Word of God.

I lift my eyes up to the hills. Where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. (Isaiah 40:28)

Praise God that He never walks away.  Hallelujah that He never leaves us or forsakes us! When we are sick and tired of being sick and tired, He is there to bring us hope in a new tomorrow. When we feel like we can't seem to say the right thing, act the right way, or be who someone needs us to be, He is there, offering us the opportunity to just BE.

Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)

Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that we are NOT God.  We can not right every wrong or change everything we would like to see different.

So, when we struggle with disappointment… in our spouse, in our children, in our friends, in OURSELVES...we must look to the One who CAN change things. When we take our disappointments to our Mighty God; when we willingly hand them over to Him in prayer and humility, He doesn’t leave us empty handed.

He takes our struggles and in return, He gives us hope and all the beautiful promises found in His word.

Don’t let disappointment overcome you.! Overcome your disappointments by trusting the God who knows your heart so well.
