Faith That Moves Mountains

A Handful of Blessings Pt. 1

One of the greatest components of walking through life with Jesus is having faith.  It is essential to our spiritual walk, yet where does this faith come from?

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17)

How can we ever expect to have faith if we do not study and listen to the word of God?  It is through the learning and understanding of His word that we formulate our belief in the power of Jesus Christ.

Without knowledge of that word, where is our faith?  How can it prosper?

When we read, when we listen to God’s word being spoken, when we sing songs of praise, those moments root themselves in our hearts and bring about that belief, that faith, that we need to travel our journey.

What exactly IS faith?  Is it believing what you see?  Actually, it is the exact opposite.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

This scripture tells us that faith is NOT believing what you see.  It is believing that which you CANNOT see.  We believe because God’s word tells us it is so.  We hope for things in our hearts, and we trust that God knows our hearts and will give us our heart’s desires.  Trusting the unseen…that is faith.

Do you have a hard time trusting what you cannot see?

What if our heart’s desire is something that seems too big for God?  What if our prayer seems impossible? Scripture assures us that there is no such word as “impossible” with God.

For nothing will be impossible with God. (Luke 1:37)

By studying God’s word, we are able to see all the miraculous wonders that took place.  Where else can you get a description of the sea parting to allow safe passage through to the other side, or a staff that turns into a serpent?  Whom else could bring sight to a blind man or clean skin to a leper?  God’s word is FULL of miracles because nothing is impossible with God.

Have there been times when what you needed seemed impossible to attain? In times of despair, do you cling to your faith that God is a God of goodness, and all is possible through him? What causes you to doubt or makes your faith waiver?

We must always remember what a beautiful gift faith is.  Faith is not something we earn, it is simply given to those who believe, those who accept the redeeming grace of Christ into their hearts.

For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8)

Because we believe, because we have salvation, because we have been forgiven…we experience faith.  It is a part of the process of salvation.  It is a significant piece of our journey with Christ.  It is nothing that we can buy or earn.  It is sweetly given by our Savior to all who call upon His name.

Do you know without a doubt in your heart that you are forgiven from your sins? Does your assurance give you hope for the things to come, even the things you cannot see? How strong would you say your faith is at this moment?

There is such magnificent power that comes with faith.

And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God.  Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:22-24)

Full assurance in the power of Jesus, with no doubt in his ability or desire to answer your request is FAITH.  Believing you can do that which you think you cannot do is FAITH.  Knowing that He can do more than you can ever imagine is FAITH.  In order to have that faith, to have that assurance, it is simple…you have to believe!

How have you experienced a growing faith in Christ? Think about your life.  Are there specific examples of His miraculous work that have happened to you? Do you believe that other people have the ability to impact our faith?
For we walk by faith, not by sight.  (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Ladies, if we want our journey to get us to the right destination, we need to let our faith be our guide.  If we live this life seeing with our heart instead of with our eyes, our faith will help us overcome a mountain of obstacles and will take us straight to the arms of Jesus.

Do you have the promise of FAITH in your life today?
