Do You Need Rest?

I woke up this morning, settled in with my cup of coffee, and prepared to write a blog post for you all that would encourage you and make your day a little brighter.  That’s what I try to do...encourage women and make their day a little brighter.

There’s just one problem... my mind can’t think.  I can’t seem to come up with many words of encouragement.  Not because I am sad or hurting, not because I am too angry to form a positive word, but just because I am TIRED.

Do you ever just get TIRED?  Too tired because you haven’t slept well?  Or because you have some lingering medical issues that keep you awake at night?  Or because you worked too hard, or drove too far, over the weekend?  Tired because keeping a home in order and keeping up with the kids can be exhausting?  Tired because trying to be a good wife in the midst of everything else can be overwhelming?

Sisters, I know you have been there too.  I know you have felt overwhelmed by life and had days when your mind couldn’t seem to form a simple thought, days when the task of being mama, wife, and everything else seemed like just too much.

Aren’t we so blessed that when we have these “I just can’t do it” days, we also have a Father in Heaven who stretches out his hand and says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”? (Matthew 11:28)

When we start to doubt our abilities, when we start to think we are just not able, we need to remember the truth found in Philippians 4:13...”I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

We are able!  We are more than able.  God calls us to that which He supplies us the ability to do.  Believe in yourself!  But know it is also okay, on the days when things become a little too much and your soul becomes weary, to just sit in His presence and REST.
