Do You Need a New Battery?

Sometimes we have to change the battery in our car. It gets rusted out, battery acid gets built up on it, and it no longer works correctly. And we all know our car needs the battery to run.

Our heart is a lot like a battery. Our body needs our heart to survive. Friendships need our heart to survive. Sometimes our heart gets rusted out by bitterness. Many times it gets built up with resentment and anger. Often it gets corroded with hurt and sorrow. Then it doesn’t work the way God intended.

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. (Hebrews 12:15)

Are you tending to your battery? Are you keeping it free of corrosion? Ladies, we have to maintain our hearts if we want to maintain relationships with others. We have to do the routine cleaning to keep things running smoothly. When resentment or bitterness rear their ugly heads, we have to replace them.

If we don’t show grace, we won’t receive grace.

God calls us to look after one another and not let troubles or aggravations come between us. In essence, God calls us to do routine maintenance on our hearts to keep them pure as ready to receive the beauty of relationship.
