The Greatest Gift From the Greatest Gift Giver

Gifts. Most of us love to receive them. They come to us in embellished packages, decorated with pretty bows and ribbons, sometimes even topped off with sparkles and sequins. And we just can’t wait to tear into that beautiful box to see what is on the inside!

Sometimes the contents are so amazing we can’t believe our luck to receive such a gift. Other times, what’s inside doesn't

meet up to the anticipation of opening the gift.

For those gifts that especiallly tickle our fancy, we display them proudly and use them every chance we get. We can’t wait for other people to see our beautiful new asset!

But for those gifts that don’t meet our expectations, we often stash them away in a drawer or closet never to be used. We smile politely and say thank you, but our heart is underwhelmed.

God is the greatest gift giver . He takes purposeful time selecting just the right gift for each of us. He gives freely of these gifts, with the expectation that we will be happy with them, display them and use them wisely. How disappointed He must be when we tuck them away in our secret hiding places, refusing to let them surface and refusing to be used by Him.

God gives each of us specific gifts so that we can serve one another and serve with one another. Are you using your gifts today to make a difference in the lives of others? Are you tearing off the paper in anticipation of the marvelous gift He has offered you, or are you stashing it someplace unseen out of doubt, fear, and insecurity?

Don’t hide your gifts from the world. Don’t feel unworthy to receive it. Embrace it, own it, speak it, and live it. In this way, you do His good and perfect will. And in this way you impact the world.
