Finding a Support System
The Struggle to Juggle Series PART EIGHT
Do you have a mentor? Do you have a group of Godly women who will support you, hold you accountable, and challenge you to grow?
The older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things – that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children. ~ Titus 2:3-4
We all need a Soul Sister. We need the encouragement and guidance that comes from those who know Jesus and have walked our journey out in their own lives.
While God’s word is our ultimate source of guidance, there is much wisdom to be found from our sisters in Christ. Don’t be embarrassed to ask for guidance. Don’t be ashamed to seek a sister out. These are the people God has placed in your life to bless you, help you, and guide you.
Sometimes it is the emotional and spiritual support that we need. We often crave someone who will tell us we are doing okay, or gently nudge us away from wrong choices, without judgment or shame.
Other times, it is that person that will bring you milk when your car won’t start or pick up your kid from school when you can’t get there in time. Maybe someone in your support system is the kind of person who will stop what she is doing and pray for you…right then and right there!
Another person in your unique circle might be who you call when you are feeling low in confidence or lacking in some area. She has the ability to remind you of how unique and special you are, and that you can do ALL things through Christ who gives you strength.
Perhaps you are a single mom, and part of your support system is a brother in Christ who can help you tackle a plumbing problem, or a flat tire. God uses the people around us to help us. And in turn, He can use us to help others.
Take a minute and think about it. Who is your support system? Who do you have around you who will help you (in whatever way) and keep you focused on making sure your family is your priority?
Stop and say a prayer for those people. Thank God for blessing you with those treasures and be sure to ask Him to give you eyes to see where you can be that source of support to someone else.
